The air is colder and the snow is plentiful. Unfortunately, the notorious winter commute persists another year. With the extra time tacked on to your travels, it’s ever important to amp up your tunes, as well. Here are some new songs to add to your commute playlist.
“Spaceship” by Kesha
Kesha’s newest album takes on an entirely new persona, one that emulates Kesha rather than pleasing an electronic pop music audience. “Spaceship” is the flip side of her previous vibes, in the best way possible. Chill and thoughtful, “Spaceship” is certainly a track to add to your commute.
“Yesterday” by Atmosphere
For fans of jazzy hip-hop, Atmosphere is a great artist to check out. It’s an upbeat tune to jam to on your commute, definitely. There is a very old fashioned feel to the production and lyrics, giving a great sense of nostalgia- the kind that can put you in a warm, cheerful mood.
“Him & I” by G-Eazy feat. Halsey
A tad darker now, “Him & I” is a top single from G-Eazy’s “The Beautiful & Damned,” and rightfully so. Halsey’s lines are spot on, as expected, and G-Eazy brings a new darkness to his classic style. This track will certainly go down as one of his best.
“Kamikaze” by WALK THE MOON
Back to a more upbeat vibe, WALK THE MOON’s newest track list is perfect for those long, snowy commutes. If you need a pick-me-up in the morning, “Kamikaze” should be in your arsenal. The production is equal parts very classic for the young band and revolutionary. You’ll be singing along in no time, even if you don’t know the words- it’s the effect that WALK THE MOON does best.
“Cry Baby” by Melanie Martinez
Melanie Martinez is talented, no doubt, and the first track to her album sets up the vibe of her style. It’s unique, playing into a very childish tone but her lyrics carry a heavy weight. “Cry Baby” is a bit more carefree that her other tracks, but still carries a ton of emotional weight. It’s a good track to throw in to your playlist, for sure.
